We spent an evening at family friends' place last weekend and the discussion over there got me thinking. Aunty & Uncle there are health enthusiast and both have pedometer attached to their waists. They make sure they walk at least 10,000 steps a day each. This keeps them healthy and active. Also there were many other tips discussed on shading off those extra Kgs, secret to flat tummy, glowing skin, etc, etc.

After this visit, +Arwa wanted me to buy her a pedometer which easily costs 1000 bucks for the cheapest one. I was not very sure. Then I came across this app on Google Store "Steps Mania". It does the same job using your mobile phone's accelerometer. The app is very simple and has smooth interface. It basically keeps running in background and counts steps. You can see daily summary of number of steps walked during each hour of the day.

The app also has interesting awards on completion of certain goals like completing 10k steps in a day or walking 5000 steps during office hours. It has social view where you can add friends who are using same app & share your step count & awards received with each other. I think this makes the activity interesting!

We used the app for more than a month & really liked it. :-)

How to apply for Voter ID card in Bangalore

The site for the Online submission of Voter Forms is up and running. Following are the steps which help you to get yourself registered to the voter list online.

• First the link www.voterreg.kar.nic.in, takes you to the Login page
• Here it is pretty self explanatory after registration which is just like any other online registration process.
• Before proceeding any further, keep the following things ready

1. Soft copy of recent Passport Size Photograph (3.5CM X 3.5 CM), should be .jpg format and <50KB.
2. Soft copy of Documentary Proof (Age) should be .pdf format and Maximum Size of PDF should be 1MB only.
3. Soft copy of Documentary Proof (Address) should be .pdf format and Maximum Size of PDF should be 1MB only.

• Register yourself as the instructions on the page.

1. Clicking on register, enter a valid e-mail ID and a Mobile number.
2. After successful registration the username & password will be communicated to your e-mail ID and a Mobile number.
3. Now you are ready to use this user ID and the password to Login for further process.

• After you Login the page here contains the following options 
1. For Including Your Name in Electoral Roll - Form 6
2. For Deleting Your Name From Electoral Roll - Form 7
3. For Modifying Your Name in Electoral Roll - Form 8
4. For Transposing Your Name in Electoral Roll - Form 8A (suggesting not to use this option)

• Select the Appropriate Form number and if any questions go through the Procedure (link adjacent to the form number) which answers most of the basic doubts.
• In case of you applying Form 8 (Modification) or Form 7 (Deletion) search your Part Number & Serial Number in the AC using this link Search Your Name In Electoral Roll
• Any form you choose your District, Pin Code and the name of your Assembly Constituency. Request to enter these correctly as they are very important.

For PSN – Use the following details: District- Bangalore, PIN – 560048, Assembly Constituency (AC) – Mahadevpura, Ward – 83 (Kadugodi)
• There is also a option of knowing the Assembly Constituency via. Ward Name/Number.
• After these steps select the Language of your choice.
• In the following page please enter your details. Also you may enter the name of your relation such as Father, Mother or any other person along with the Serial Number & Part Number found via the link to search your name in electoral roll and then upload your Photograph & the Document Proofs (Age & Address).
• After entering all the details & making sure that they are correct click on submit, now select the appropriate application and click on Generate Acknowledgement.
• Usually you will receive a e-mail explaining next steps along with the Address to which a hard copy of the application has to be submitted. If not, submit the office copy signed along with supporting documents to the office of the ERO/AERO within 7 days to take up the verification process, if you don't know the address of the ERO/AERO use the link “Know your ERO” to get the address & Phone numbers. You can also snail mail it to the address specified.
• By the application number you may also check the status of your application in the home page after logging in.
